prayer request

Dear folks - Just got off the phone with Suzanne Exelby (Alise Exelby’s mom – one of Mark’s friends) who is in Toledo Hospital with heart problems.  She had a pacemaker put in last August and began having severe chest pains and vomiting last night.  Anyway, somehow the hospital called me to let me know that she was there and I talked to her and told her that we would pray.

Also, a reminder about a couple of special events this weekend:

‘Girlfriends Night Out” is this Friday @ 6:00pm at church.  Cost is $10 and the night will be FUN! Make sure you contact Dana Hendrickson if you haven’t signed up yet.  (craigndana@tc3net.com)

We are also having a special concert this Sunday evening at 6:00pm. The local Southern gospel Trio, “Soul’s Harbor” (www.soulsharbormusic.com) will be ministering to us!  Afterwards, we will be having a fellowship dinner (bring a dish to pass).  All off-site groups (high school and College Age) are invited for this evening!

prayer request

Folks - Some of you may have heard that Bob Fetters was in a car accident last night (Monday) around 11pm (on his way home from work in Ann Arbor).  He was coming down US 12 toward Saline when a car slid in front of him coming from the other way.  The road was very slippery.  Bob was unable to miss the other car, and hit it broadside.  It spun around and hit his back end and then there were three other cars that became involved in the accident.  It was quite a mess.  His car was totaled.

Bob was injured somewhat (he bumped his head, hurt his knee and cut his hand) and is feeling pretty sore in his neck.  He went to the hospital to get checked out, and they said everything will be alright, but he will be pretty sore for the next couple of days.

The other person was taken away in an ambulance.  Bob said he didn’t know his condition, but said it looked pretty serious.

We rejoice with Bob that God spared his life and that he was not seriously injured.  We also pray for the others in the accident for their health.

Thanks for praying!

Pastor Bob

Prayer update

Folks – just a quick note to let you know that Byron is at home and resting.  He still has an arrhythmia but they are going to watch it.  He’s planning on being at church tomorrow and is going back to work on Monday.

See you at church!

Pastor Bob

P.S. Bring your family to Sunday School tomorrow!  Your kids need it (and want to come), and our adult class will be learning key principals in understanding the Psalms and Hebrew poetry.  Great stuff!

Update from Jean Gall

Here’s an email I recently received from Jean Gall…

Thank you all for your prayers, phone calls, and offers of help!  Byron is still in the hospital and of course if hoping to come home tomorrow.  He is doing much better today than yesterday.  Yesterday his heart was racing (150) when the paramedics were with him.  It was at about 100 when I got to the hospital.  He said it felt like his heart was jumping.  They told him that his heart wasn't beating right either, not just fast.  They have been trying different meds to bring it back in rhythm, but it isn't there yet.  This afternoon he said that he didn't feel it jumping anymore so that is good.  He was much better today when I got there.  He is tired though; he didn't sleep well last night.  As Pastor Bob said, all the heart test have been fine except that it is out of sync.  Of course, Byron doesn't like all the fuss, but he is thankful for the prayers.  We'll keep you posted and let you know if there is anything you can do to help.

prayer update & news

Dear Folks – I wanted to give you an update on Byron…

He is still in the hospital under observation.  His arrhythmia has not responded to the medicine that they’ve been giving him, and they want to watch him for a while yet.  He has had several tests and as of yet, there is still no clear indication as to what is causing this.  Please continue to pray for him.

Also – a reminder that on Sunday morning there will be a short, special business meeting right after the morning service to discuss a couple of items of church business.

I’m also really excited to tell you about a terrific opportunity for community ministry that our church will be having in a few weeks!  I’ll let you know more on Sunday.

Have a great rest of the day –

Pastor Bob

prayer request

Dear folks – wanted to give you a prayer request concerning Byron Gall.

He wasn’t feeling too good at work this afternoon and his heart was racing some, so he went to the work health person and they sent him to the hospital in Toledo (St Anne’s) to get it checked out.

They recorded an irregular heartbeat and gave him some medicine, but it isn’t really responding the way they’d like it to, so they’re keeping him overnight for some more observation.

He is feeling some tightness in his chest but they are monitoring him.  Please keep him in your prayers as they try to figure out what is causing this.

Thanks

prayer request update

Sorry folks – I got some of the info wrong on the prayer request.  Here’s more…

Pastor,

Actually, it is Carolyn is Kyle's Grandmother and Leisa's mother in law.  Kyle is on his way right now to Iowa from Wisconsin and hasn't received the news yet.  Sarah will have the task of telling him when he arrives around 11:30pm.  Please pray for safe travels as I am sure that Kyle and Sarah will be traveling home.

Thanks!

Dana

prayer request

Folks – I just received a phone call from Dana concerning a friend (Leisa).  Leisa’s grandmother (Carolyn Hayes) just had an aneurysm break and is on life support.  Leisa’s son Kyle is dating Sarah (Dana’s daughter).  It sounds quite complicated, but Leisa recently lost her husband in a snowmobile accident (so Kyle lost his dad).  It will be a sad few days as they most likely will be removing life support.  Leisa asked for prayer, so Dana called me to pass the word along.

Thanks.

See you Sunday.

Prayer, church news and a pig

It’s Friday!  That means you are gearing up for the weekend and all the things going on.

I wanted to ask you to be in prayer for a couple of things I’ve heard about in the last couple of days…

Dana Hendrickson would like prayer for her step dad who lives in Florida.  He has been in poor health for a while and has taken a turn for the worse.  The doctors are pretty concerned about his fluid-filled lungs.  Please pray for Dana’s mom as she has to make some medical decisions.

Pray for Carol McCarty as she has to find another place to live.  If anyone knows of a cheap place (maybe a room to use), please let her know.

Pray for Bill & Valerie as they head South for about a month to visit their kids/grandkids.  Pray for safety, alertness and great fellowship!

About This Sunday…

We have something special planned for Sunday night!  The adult group has been studying the relationship between what we believe (our theology) and how we live (our conduct).  Our theology should be more than a set of beliefs to which we subscribe.  It should dictate our behavior.

As an illustration of how that can happen in an individual’s life, we’ll be watching the recently released movie ‘Amazing Grace’, the powerful story of William Wilberforce and his fight against the slave trade in England.  It was because of his belief that all men are created in the image of God that he battled (and ultimately overturned) his country’s view of slavery.  It is a great family movie.  Very professionally done.

The Church will provide popcorn and beverages.  Please bring some snacks to share.  We’ll start at 6:00pm and be done by 8pm.  All off-site groups (high school & college) are strongly encouraged to come!  Invite your family and friends.

See you on Sunday!

Pastor Bob

P.S.  I received a missionary letter from Norm and Louise Barnard (our missionaries in Singapore).  It is attached to this email.  They will be in the States in March for a short furlough, and are scheduled to speak here in October.  After reading their letter, write them a letter of encouragement!  I know they would appreciate it!

P.S.S.  On a not-so-serious note – because of my involvement with the Britton Band Boosters, we are having a “Kiss the Pig” fundraising event.  I am one of the contestants (along with the Band Director and two other staff from school.  Note - I don’t want to win).  The winner will get to kiss the pig ON THE LIPS!  What fun!  The winner is determined by how much money is placed in each contestants jar by the students and others who are interested in supporting the band.  Tonight is the night!   If you want to see what happens, come to the Winter fest game in Britton at 7:00pm.  The event will be held during half-time.   Jim Stewart (from our church) is supplying the pig.  What a unique way for us to get ‘involved’ with the community!
