It’s Friday! That means you are gearing up for the weekend and all the things going on.
I wanted to ask you to be in prayer for a couple of things I’ve heard about in the last couple of days…
Dana Hendrickson would like prayer for her step dad who lives in Florida. He has been in poor health for a while and has taken a turn for the worse. The doctors are pretty concerned about his fluid-filled lungs. Please pray for Dana’s mom as she has to make some medical decisions.
Pray for Carol McCarty as she has to find another place to live. If anyone knows of a cheap place (maybe a room to use), please let her know.
Pray for Bill & Valerie as they head South for about a month to visit their kids/grandkids. Pray for safety, alertness and great fellowship!
About This Sunday…
We have something special planned for Sunday night! The adult group has been studying the relationship between what we believe (our theology) and how we live (our conduct). Our theology should be more than a set of beliefs to which we subscribe. It should dictate our behavior.
As an illustration of how that can happen in an individual’s life, we’ll be watching the recently released movie ‘Amazing Grace’, the powerful story of William Wilberforce and his fight against the slave trade in England. It was because of his belief that all men are created in the image of God that he battled (and ultimately overturned) his country’s view of slavery. It is a great family movie. Very professionally done.
The Church will provide popcorn and beverages. Please bring some snacks to share. We’ll start at 6:00pm and be done by 8pm. All off-site groups (high school & college) are strongly encouraged to come! Invite your family and friends.
See you on Sunday!
Pastor Bob
P.S. I received a missionary letter from Norm and Louise Barnard (our missionaries in Singapore). It is attached to this email. They will be in the States in March for a short furlough, and are scheduled to speak here in October. After reading their letter, write them a letter of encouragement! I know they would appreciate it!
P.S.S. On a not-so-serious note – because of my involvement with the Britton Band Boosters, we are having a “Kiss the Pig” fundraising event. I am one of the contestants (along with the Band Director and two other staff from school. Note - I don’t want to win). The winner will get to kiss the pig ON THE LIPS! What fun! The winner is determined by how much money is placed in each contestants jar by the students and others who are interested in supporting the band. Tonight is the night! If you want to see what happens, come to the Winter fest game in Britton at 7:00pm. The event will be held during half-time. Jim Stewart (from our church) is supplying the pig. What a unique way for us to get ‘involved’ with the community!
