prayer request

Hey Folks – just a note to let you know that Harold Jeffrey is going in for some surgery tomorrow on his prostrate.  He’s not expecting any problems, but I thought I’d let you know so you could be praying for him.  It’s scheduled for 1:45pm at Bixby and he should be there until Thursday.  Send him a card if you want!  His address is 9110 Holloway Rd. Britton, Mi. 49229.

Also, I enjoyed seeing everyone on Easter Sunday!  Hope that you were encouraged by the music and message.  The breakfast buffet was really something!

I will be leaving this Friday (with my family) to Texas to see Phillip over Spring Break.  He’s going to take us flying on one of the school planes!  Wow – this is much more amazing than watching him drive!

In my absence (March 30th thru April 6th), I am lining up some great Sunday speakers – make sure you come and support the ministry!  If you have any needs, contact Doug McMullen (451-9619) or Jared Burkeen (424-1410).

Good Friday Service

Hey all – just wanted to remind you about the Good Friday Service tomorrow at church.  What a blessing to be able to focus on the sacrifice of Jesus and what He did for us.  We will begin at noon and be done by 1pm.  This will be an interactive service, and will include video, readings, music and prayer.

I encourage you to come with your family.

P.S.  Our church is supposed to be in the paper (Tecumseh Herald) today!  The Community Leadership Dinner on Monday was a huge hit!  Thanks to all who helped make it possible.  We didn’t get all the money we needed to cover expenses.  If you can give toward the cost, please see me or mark your offering ‘community dinner’.

P.S.  On Sunday, we will be having a Sunrise service at 8:30am, Easter egg hunt at 9:00am, Breakfast buffet at 9:30am (donation requested), and worship service at 10:30am.  Invite a friend!

Snow day for AWANA

Dear Folks – Due to the weather, we will NOT be having AWANA tonight.  Even though the day may bring sunshine – we have made the decision that when School is cancelled, we will also cancel AWANA.  Hopefully, you’ll enjoy the day with your family and the kids will not get too bored!

Please be praying for us (Deacons families) this weekend as we go for a Leader’s Retreat.  We will be talking about our church, going over ministry surveys, reading ministry articles, praying and planning together.  We want to move forward together as a church, and this is a great way to plan for it!

You will enjoy hearing from Dave Watters, Missionary with New Tribes Missions in Papua, New Guinea.  He will be sharing in S.S. and Morning Service.  There will be no Evening Service for the adults.  I assume the High School Group will still meet.

Have a great rest of the week.  We are working on the Ladies bathroom today!  Hopefully it will be done by Sunday!

Amazing Video from Steve's Team

Hey folks – thought I’d send you a video from one of Steve teammates on the World Race. It shows where they have been living for the last few weeks.  Click on the following link to watch it!  http://www.vimeo.com/728836/  If you watch closely, you can even see Steve in this video (during the kitchen footage).  In another video (from one of his teammates) there was a HUGE spider that they killed on the boat (they hung it up from a HOOK).  That would about do it for me!!

Steve wrote us that while the rest of the team is going back to Iquitos for a week, he (and one of his teammates) is staying behind with some of the local pastors in Nauta to help train them in Bible Study Methods.  They really wanted more help in that.  He’s excited for this opportunity!  I know he’ll do a great job.  It’s neat to see him able to use his gifts in different areas.

Some of you heard that Steve’s computer, camera, Bible and other items in his backpack were stolen recently (in transition from Lima, Peru to Iquitos).  He was pretty bummed about it.  We checked with our insurance company (we bought renter’s insurance for the parsonage), and they said that they would reimburse him for it – even the Bible!  I was really surprised and pleased.  We just got a check for almost $2,000 to buy the stuff for him!  We found out that there is a pastor in Michigan who is going to meet with Steve’s team in Bolivia in three weeks, so if we can get it ready, he can even take it down to him.  That’s amazing.

Please continue to pray for Steve as he transitions to the next country – Bolivia.  The team will be there for the month of March.  Then the team will travel to Africa (around April 17th).  Interestingly, Steve and Anna will both be in Africa at the same time!  Steve said that if he is near Anna (she’ll be in Guinnea working with New Tribes Mission), then he’ll be able to go and see her!  That’s pretty neat.

Just to give you an update on our kid’s missions adventures…Phillip will be going to Alaska this summer to work with a missionary pilot for an internship; Anna will be leaving in June for a month to help missionaries with New Tribes Mission in Guinnea, Africa; Mark will be going to Haiti for ten days in August with a group from our church to help with a mission hospital there; and Steve will be continuing his World Race adventure.  We are so happy for them!

Folks, it doesn’t get any more exciting than this!  As we give our kids to God, He takes them around the world!  While it’s a bit scary to think of what can (and does) happen to them physically, we know that they are safer where God leads them, then where we might lead them.  And besides – they’re not really our kids – they’re His!

Please pray that all the finances will come in for them!  We are especially trusting God for that part.

See you tomorrow!
