Update on Anna

Folks – just wanted to let you know that Anna returned home yesterday safe and sound (and tired).  She had a great time and wished she could have stayed longer!  We’re glad to have her back.  We looked through her pictures last night and heard all the stories – it was really fun!

I want to encourage you to strongly consider sending your kids (or grandkids) on an international missions trip.  It is one of the BEST things you can do for them spiritually.  I know there are always concerns to think about (health, safety, etc), but the rewards FAR outweigh the potential risks.

I’ve included a couple of pictures of her trip.  The first two are of her working on the missionary building.  The third one is a picture of her teaching the African kids the ‘Chicken Dance’.  She said they loved it!  It was part of a VBS-type outreach they were doing.

Anyway – hope you’re having a great week.

God Bless

We're in the news!

Dear Folks – remember when we hosted the Community Leadership Dinner in March?  It was a great success, and we had lots of positive comments from around town.  Well…I sent a note to our denomination (GARBC) about the event to let them know what we did, and just got a note back from the Baptist Bulletin (a national magazine) that they want to include an article about it in their next issue!  Cool!  So I just received an email from the editor wanting some more info and pictures so they can write up something for next month.

I’m glad our ministry is getting noticed by others as being community-oriented and outreach-focused (that is the middle phrase in our Logo – Building Up, Reaching Out, Sharing Christ).  Anyway – I was excited to get the message and wanted to share it with you.

See you tomorrow!

Church Camping Trip - July 6 - 9th

Dear Folks – I wanted to give some updated info concerning the camping trip.

We will be leaving next Sunday (July 6th) at 2:00pm from the church.  We will eat lunch together and pack the trailer.  We’re heading to Monument Campground in Oscoda, Mi (a beautiful, rustic campground on the AuSable River.  There are two group Campsites there (and several other single campsites).  This is a fairly primitive campground (no electricity on site), but it has water and modern bathrooms nearby.  It is near the beautiful AuSable River and awesome sand dunes (as well as Lake Huron).  We may be able to do some canoeing together (may cost extra).

I have to leave on Wednesday afternoon (July 9th), but you are free to stay longer if you’d like (food and campground fee will be on your own).

IMPORTANT:  Please make sure I get your money ($50 per person/$150 per family) by this Sunday (June 29th) if you plan on going (if you want, you can give me half this Sunday and half next Sunday).

Things you’ll need:  Tent, Sleeping bag/Pillow, bathroom stuff (there are no showers available – but a beautiful lake!), Bible, warm clothes, extra money, other camping-type things.  We’ll have a great time together!  Please don’t bring anything that will harm you or others.  We’ll will have devotions every night at supper.  And remember – everyone gets up for breakfast!

What you’ll get:  Transportation in the Church Van (The van holds 14 people.  If you drive up separately, you’ll need to pay for your gas – if you ride up with someone, please help them pay for gas J); Ten meals at the campsite (Sun Lunch – Wed Lunch); Campground Fee (Sunday – Wed).  You might want to bring some money for the road (fast food, pop, snacks, etc).

I’m looking forward to being with you.  We always have fun together.  Let me know if you have any questions.
