Church Update

Dear Folks – Good morning!  Hope your day is going well.  I wanted to give you an update on some prayer requests and other stuff.

 

Rex Kelly hurt his back last Friday at work and is out of commission for a few weeks.  Please pray for him as he recovers.  He is in good spirits and is taking it pretty well for how he feels!  Send a card to 205 S VanBuren St.  Tecumseh, Mi.  49286

 

Debbie’s uncle Marv is recovering from his triple-bypass and recent stroke.  He’s quite something!  They are trying to get him to the point where he can breathe well on his own (the stroke left him unable to cough/swallow) because there is some concern about pneumonia.  They will know more on Friday.

 

Katie Flint (Jim Stewart’s daughter) and baby Elizabeth are both doing well.  She (the baby) continues to improve and mom & dad have been staying at the Ronald McDonald house over the last few days.

 

Julia Collins is having some tests to determine the cause of her abdominal pain – pray for her as she prepares for that.

 

Libby Cochrane continues to request prayer for herself for depression and medical issues.

 

As far as other stuff happening…

 

We are getting ready for Father’s Day (Sunday), VBS (next week) and the Family Fun Fest (Sat, June 21).  I’m looking forward to Father’s Day.  We have a special guest who will be sharing his testimony.  And some lucky dad will receive a thick, juicy steak to cook on the grill!

 

I also hope you’re able to help out with VBS (bringing supplies, etc.) and participation in the Family Fun Fest.  Remember to invite (or bring) a kid to VBS so they can be taught about our wonderful Jesus.  Remember to invite (or bring) a friend to the Family Fun Fest so they can be encouraged and introduced to our wonderful church family! 

 

Diane Steman (Tim Brososky’s sister) is having an open house this Saturday for her son (graduating from Manchester High School).  If you want to go to the open house or send a card, their address is 18120 Sharon Valley Rd  Manchester, Mi.  48258

 

Also, the party at Don Russ’ house is this Saturday if you can go.  The family will be providing food, music and an inflatable for the kids.

 

We sent out an update letter from Steven Wright yesterday.  Hope you enjoy the pictures and information.  He’s working in Swaziland with AIDS kids right now and staying on a Safari plantation (lions, giraffes, ostriches all over).  They are staying outside in tents and cooking their meals over a fire.  During the day, they travel to a Care Point where kids come to be fed, taught and loved on.  It is the only meal (or human contact) some of them get for the entire day.  He is behind on his financial support.  He needs about $2,000 by July 1^st in order to continue on the Race.  If you can help him, I’m sure he would appreciate it!  You can keep in touch with him or donate at www.stevewright.theworldrace.org

 

Debbie and I will be leaving today (Thursday) to take Mark down to register for his college classes at Olivet University in Illinois.  He has freshman orientation Thurs – Sat so we will be staying there and going to “parent” classes.  This is the first time Debbie has seen the college, so we are both looking forward to it.  Mark is excited to begin this next phase of his life.  He’s going into mass communications (Film Studies) and is working this summer at the radio station (WLEN – 103.9 FM) as an announcer.  If you want to listen to him live on radio (which is quite a kick), he will be working the 7pm – 2am shift this Saturday.

 

I want to thank Sam McCarty and the Jr High Group for making signs for the Family Fun Fest.  You should be seeing signs pop up in yards around Britton.  Also, Sam will be teaching the High School Sunday School Group for the Summer.  Bill Bartenslager will be taking a break.  Bill has been teaching that class for many years!  Valerie is taking the 4^th – 5^th grade class for the summer.  So pray for our teachers as they take on new assignments!

 

Also, we have two new adult SS classes that you might want to join.  The ladies class is studying the book “Seeking Him”  (meets in my office).  The other adult class is learning how to memorize and meditate on Scripture through the Navigator book “Life Issues”.  Both studies are interesting and life-related.  Please make the effort to come early for Sunday School!
