A new baby, a funeral and a mission's update!

Dear folks – we have a new baby in our church!  John and Katie Flint (Jim Stewart’s daughter) had a baby girl on Monday afternoon (7 weeks premature).  She weighs 5lbs 1 oz.  Her lungs are not fully developed yet, so they have her in special care.  Katie is recovering from the C-Section (after 30 hours of labor) and will be staying at the Ronald McDonald house near the Toledo Hospital.  Please pray for them as they look forward to bringing her home!

Also – the funeral for Justin Dickerson (Dorothy Skampo’s grandson) went very well today.  Over 250 people were in attendance and heard a clear and compelling presentation of the gospel.  I was glad to be able to minister to the family as well as many of his friends.  Please pray for Dick and Dorothy as well as Dave & Dena (Justin’s mom and dad) as they adjust to this tragic reality.  They were not sure he was saved – but did say that Dorothy used to bring him to our church faithfully while he was a young boy (note to Sunday School teachers – your labor is not in vain in the Lord), so maybe he accepted the Lord while he was with us!  I’m praying that he did.  His present life did not reflect that he understood salvation.

Anna left with her team this morning for Africa and is flying over the ocean as I write this (Wed nite)!  Pretty cool.  She’ll be staying in Casablanca, Morocco for a 15-hour layover and do a little sight-seeing before getting on a plane to Guinea, West Africa.  She found out that there are huge spiders and cobras there!  They each sleep in a net at night so they don’t get bothered.  Sounds like she will be getting real friendly with the wildlife there!  Thanks for praying for her.  There is no phone service or internet connection where she is, so we will not be able to keep in touch.  I guess she’ll be doing missions the ‘old-fashioned’ way!

See you on Sunday!
